Take a mid-day break with a movement class that will give you a good workout,

but doesn't require special exercise clothes (or a shower).

Often called a moving meditation or Chinese yoga, T'ai Chi is a series of slow easy movements that exercise muscles, enhances joint range-of-motion and builds better habits of posture and breathing. T'ai Chi combines with Ch'i Gong to increase strength, improve balance and reduce inflammation and pain associated with stress. The instructor, Jeff Wolf, has studied different styles of T'ai Chi and Ch'i Gong for 20 years with a wide variety of teachers, has been teaching for 15 years and is certified in Arthritis Foundation T'ai Chi. Class emphasis is more on coordination and balance than martial arts applications. Each class is self-contained (you're not "behind" if you miss a class) and suitable for any level of physical ability - you can even do T'ai Chi sitting in a chair!

Artists of all skill levels welcome. The class will cover wedging, centering, pulling, trimming, use of tools and surface techniques. Campers should wear old clothes because work on the potter's wheel can get messy (wah-hoo!).

The wheel is like life...it is not about the destination, but the journey. An average of 6 works will be created this session!

Please remember that finished work will need to dry and then go through

the firing process. Allow 10 days from the last day of class for picking up work, thank you.

Week 1 Let's get centered. Before we begin to whirl around, campers will learn the history
of the potter's wheel and why it was used. We will also learn how to prepare our clay before learning
to center the clay. Getting centered and getting muddy is the goal today.

Week 2 Campers will continue the journey on the wheel making a summer time snack bowl.
Week 3 Don't flip out, flip over! Today campers will learn the techniques to trim the bottoms of their bowls.
Week 4
Up, up and away. Campers learn how to pull clay on the wheel to achieve height from their work.
Week 5
Getting to know glaze. We will learn about glaze and have a painting party on our last day of camp.
Week 6 Free play on the wheel and wrap up any projects still in progress.
